Today started like many other days before it. The light from the sun maneuvered its way through the gaps in the blinds and slid down the front of them to land gently on my face, with a warm and gentle whisper of “wake up my sweet” I awoke to a familiar scene.”
I opened my eyes to see the sleeping stranger whose bed I had occupied the night before. Disappointed in myself, again, I turned away and lay motionless, staring at the ceiling. It’s times like these, I seem to reflect on my life the most. As far back as I can remember my beauty has been my curse. It felt like all I had to offer the world was a pretty face, with no brains, talents, or personality.
My desire was to be more than just a pretty face. I wanted to be admired for the complete me, not just what others could get from me. I often wondered what the phrase “beauty is only skin deep meant. Now that I have experienced the worst that life has to offer, I know exactly what it means because I live it every day and night. When I was in elementary a teacher once told me that my beauty would take me places, she forgot to tell me that some of those places were dark and hideous areas that no one should ever have to visit.

Greetings, everyone, and welcome to Top of the World Publications, where the creative mind shines. Top of the World Publications is a division of Stewarthouse Productions. It was created in 2020 during the covid-19 pandemic. Like most of you, we at Stewarthouse Productions tried to find ways of dealing with the stay-at-home orders, social distancing, and the lack of interaction with friends and family. Although we are and always will be deeply rooted in children’s books the pandemic of
2020 allowed us to step out of our comfort zone and dive into fiction writing.
The outcome is a new division of Stewarthouse Productions, Top of The World Publications. This division was created to give adults a break from the stresses of Covid 19, and everyday life so they can sit back and relax while enjoying a good read that is full of suspense, thrills, and excitement, and just enough twist and turns to keep you thoroughly engaged. The first book under the label is titled Ten Miles to Safety with a birth date of February 21, 2021.
